Recently, new results of long term studies have revealed that medical treatment of hair loss has a definite role in the management of male pattern hair loss. The oral medication Propecia has been shown to effectively regrow hair or prevent the further loss of hair in over 90% of the men who use the medication. At the clinic, we are now recommending all of our Birmingham hair transplant patients also take Propecia in order to yield the best cosmetic results. Of course, transplants will grow without the help of Propecia, but the medication can add to the overall effect of the surgery.

Propecia must be taken for at least six months to determine its effectiveness, and must be continued daily in order for the patient to receive a prolonged effect. It is a prescription medicine, and must be monitored by a physician.
