A Contour Threadlift is a minimally invasive surgical approach for the elevation and fixation of skin. Areas are treated with threadlike polypropylene sutures that are threaded through tiny incisions at the treatment area(s) and inserted under the skin. Areas that can be treated include the Eyebrows, Cheeks, Mid-face and Lower face. The amount of improvement desired determines the number of threads required to achieve this rejuvenation. Once the sutures are placed tiny barbs on each thread open up in a umbrella-like fashion to form a support structure that gently lifts sagging tissues of the brows, face and neck. Your body will then generate new collagen bundles that encapsulate each thread to help maintain the lifting effect. Exact placement of threads will vary from patient to patient.
A Contour Threadlift procedure is performed under local anesthesia or if a patient desires it can be performed under light IV sedation. The length of time to perform this procedure will vary depending upon the number of threads used. On average a typical procedure takes approximately 60 minutes. In most patients four threads is the minimum needed to improve moderate sagging of one facial area. Usually only one procedure is needed to achieve the desired lifting effect.
Patients can usually return to normal activities or to work within a few days to one week. Patients experience minimal discomfort, bruising and swelling. Concealer makeup may be worn the next day to help minimize any bruising.
Based on physician experience patients can expect a Contour Threadlift to last from three to five years depending on the age of the patient at the time of the procedure, the degree of sagging and the number of threads used.
When this procedure is performed by a certified, experienced physician the Contour ThreadLift is very safe. Complications are rare. Patients will experience swelling, bruising, tightness or pullling. Some patients may be able to feel the threads. Unwanted effects are usually easily corrected under local anesthesia.
A Contour Threadlift is not designed to take the place of a surgical facelift but rather offer patients an innovative, minimally invasive approach to achieving facelift-like results. This procedure can be combined with Botox, dermal fillers, chin augmentation and liposuction, further enhancing an optimal refreshed and relaxed appearance. Patients between the ages of 38-60 are good candidates for this procedure and may find this procedure attractive for many reasons.
