The Surgery
Rhinoplasty can be performed under IV sedation or general anesthesia. With IV sedation, you'll usually be very sedated, and your nose and the surrounding area will be numbed; you'll be very drowsy during the surgery. With general anesthesia, you'll sleep through the operation.
Rhinoplasty in Alabama usually takes an hour or two, though more extensive procedures may take longer. When the surgery is complete, a splint will be applied to help your nose maintain its new shape. A special dissolvable suture is used to stabilize the septum, thereby avoiding the need for a nasal packing. This dramatically reduces post-op discomfort.

After Your Surgery
Most of the swelling and bruising should disappear within two weeks. A little bleeding may occur during the first few days, and you may continue to feel some stuffiness for a few weeks. By the end of one week, splints are removed.
Patients are required to refrain from contact sports and extreme physical activity for six weeks. Light normal activity may be resumed in two weeks.
