What is the microblading procedure?

Once your ideal look and shape are established with our licensed microblading specialist, the procedure involves carefully drawing in your eyebrows using a special tool. At this stage, the drawn brow will be heavier and appear “blocky” as the pencil only establishes shape—the microblading instrument achieves refinement of tiny feather strokes.

Next, a custom pigment is blended match your current brow color, and tiny hair-like strokes are etched onto your skin with a specialized microblade. The tool’s microneedles are extremely tiny so that the enhancement looks like natural hair.  A shading technique may be applied that involves “plucking” the skin to deposit the pigment manually. To ease any possible discomfort, a topical numbing cream may be applied beforehand.

To create your desired brow fullness and shape, the pigment is deposited into the upper layers of skin, unlike the depth of a standard tattoo. As a result, our Birmingham microblading effects last for approximately 12, depending on your skin type.

What does microblading treat?

Anyone with naturally wispy eyebrows, thinning brows, or over-plucked brows, or who suffers from hair loss due to alopecia or chemotherapy may be a good candidate for microblading. Our expert team can restore your look in a matter of hours with results that look remarkably natural. Microblading pigments are organic and don’t change color over time. However, they may fade, requiring touch-ups, but the process is gradual, and you’ll never experience your brows changing in color and requiring more makeup to cover up.

What is the recovery time after microblading?

You may experience soreness and redness in the eyebrow region for a couple of days after treatment. Initially, the color will appear more vibrant or darker compared to the end result. Usually, within 7 days the color will fade 40-50%, soften, and look more natural. The brows will be fully healed within 2-4 weeks. A touch-up session will be can be performed at 6 weeks.

Avoid getting the brow area wet for up to 10-14  days, including keeping it dry when showering. No makeup can be applied to, or around the brows during the healing process.

Maintain your new brows

To maintain the color and shape of your new look, touch-ups are advised about every six-eight months, depending on how quickly the ink fades, but this will differ person to person. Sunscreen with SPF 50 should be applied frequently when sitting in direct sun to hinder fading. Because the salt in sweat pulls the ink’s color from the skin, heavy physical activity involving profuse sweating should also be avoided for two weeks after treatment.
