Microneedling with PRP is one of the most exciting developments in skin regeneration. The micro-injuries created with the needling process, in conjunction with the growth factors in PRP, takes microneedling to the next level, stimulating your skin to regenerate from within, becoming softer, firmer, and healthier as the days pass.

What is PRP microneedling?

Rejuvepen is an FDA-approved, class 1 fractional micro-needling device that works to tighten, lift, and rejuvenate the skin. It is effective in reducing fine lines and wrinkles, minimizing pore size, and improving surgical and acne scars. When combined with PRP, the results are significantly enhanced.

What is PRP?

PRP is “platelet rich plasma,” a concentrated healing serum created from a sample of your blood. After microneedling has created a series of micro-injuries in the skin surface, the PRP is applied, entering the skin. Collagen is the latticework that supports the skin. As you age, the collagen fibers weaken and stretch, resulting in lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin. PRP is loaded with “growth factors,” a set of specialized proteins in the body that turn various functions on and off. When applied to the skin after microneedling, the PRP speeds cell renewal, blood circulation, and stimulates natural collagen and elastin production.

What does PRP with microneedling treat?

PRP with microneedling, produces a remarkable change in skin quality. If you see your skin losing its firm, youthful condition, with lines, wrinkles, jowls starting to appear, it is the result of diminished collagen production. PRP with microneedling triggers natural regeneration, leaving you with firmer, healthier, glowing skin.

Candidates for PRP microneedling

As the PRP is derived from your own blood, there is virtually no risk with this procedure. Any person who wants firmer, healthier, more supple skin is a good candidate for PRP microneedling, with a few very rare exceptions.

Rejuvepen microneedling with PRP: Natural skin rejuvenation

The Rejuvepen uses a unique spring-loaded disposable tip that uses an automated, vibrating stamp-like motion that enhances results while offering a more controlled and safe method of treatment than other microneedling devices and causes less epidermal damage. The automated needling motion minimizes pain and discomfort while increasing the effectiveness of treatments by promoting an even absorption of the PRP. Rejuvepen treatments are precise and less costly than laser therapy. For optimal results, three treatments of PRP with microneedling performed at four-week intervals can dramatically improve your overall skin quality, tone, and flexibility. There is no downtime with Rejuvepen treatment. This procedure produces the best results with three treatments performed at four-week intervals.

How is PRP with microneedling performed?

A topical anesthetic cream will be applied to the area to be treated. Three passes over the area to be firmed with the Rejuvepen. Rejuvepen creates micro-injuries, very tiny wounds in the skin to stimulate healing and regeneration, called “collagen induction therapy.” Once the Rejuvepen needling treatment is complete, the PRP is applied to the skin, so it can enter the skin structure, triggering natural healing, and the regeneration of new collagen and elastin.

What is the recovery from PRP microneedling?

Post-treatment, you will have a moderate to severe sunburn and your skin may feel warm and tighter than usual. This is normal and will subside within one to two hours and you should feel back to normal within 24 hours.

FAQ

How long will the procedure take to complete?

The numbing requires about 45 to 60 minutes, followed by microneedling which requires about another 30 to 45 minutes. The PRP is then massaged into your face where it is left for a six hours.

Is microneedling with PRP better than BOTOX?

BOTOX halts the muscles that create dynamic wrinkles (caused by expressions). PRP with microneedling works to strengthen your skin from within. Each has its own purpose, and the condition of your skin makes a difference in whether you will see better results with one or the other, or both.

How many treatments will I need?

The best results are achieved with three sessions spaced four weeks apart.
