Full, rosy, beautiful lips are a major beauty trend these days. Lip blushing is a treatment that defines the lips, gives the illusion of fullness and provides a semi-permanent makeup look. With lip blushing, you can enjoy a warm, blush lip color without ever having to put makeup on again--for years.
What is lip blushing?
Lip blushing is a cosmetic tattooing procedure on the lips to create a semi-permanent look. Lip blushing enhances the color and shape of your lips by inserting pigment into the lips with tiny needles. Lip blushing creates a more defined look, brings color to pale lips and achieves a beautiful effect that you can enjoy every day without having to worry about makeup.
What happens during the treatment?
A lip blushing treatment starts with a consultation to discuss color and shape preferences. We will apply a topical anesthetic to minimize pain, but you can expect some discomfort. However, the treatment should not be too painful. The lip blushing procedure will take about 2-3 hours in total.
The color will be darker and brighter just after your treatment then it will be in its final result. After the first week, it will fade to the color you want.
Usually one session is enough, but you may need another session if there is any spottiness in the pigmentation. We offer a perfecting session if you would like to enhance your results or go darker.
Lip blush: $650.
Perfecting session: $250.
(Your perfecting session is typically performed after 4-8 weeks.)
Before your treatment
One week before your treatment: Avoid the sun and do not tan or take Retin-A or Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA).
Three days before your treatment: Begin antiviral medication.
Two days before your treatment: Do not exercise, drink alcohol or caffeine, take aspirin, niacin, vitamin E or advil/ibuprofen, primrose oil, nutritional shakes, skin/hair/nail supplements.
What can I expect while my lips heal?
Your lips will take about four weeks to heal fully and completely. During this time, the color will fade up to 50 percent from the first dark shade that appeared after treatment.
In the first week after treatment, you will experience some scabbing and peeling, and there may be swelling and bruising. Keep your lips moisturized by dabbing them with ointment. This will go away within 5-7 days. In about two weeks, your lips will be mostly healed.
Aftercare for your lips
Immediately following the procedure, your lips may feel dry or chapped. They will feel tight and tender to the touch.
Itching is normal, but don’t pick at your lips, or you may remove the pigment color. Don’t use soaps, creams or chemicals on lips. Avoid washing the lip area or getting water on it for 10 days.
Use a straw and do not stretch the lips. Cut spicy or greasy foods and put them into your mouth instead of biting into them. Use ointment before brushing your teeth.
Do not expose the lips to direct sunlight or tanning beds until they are fully healed.
You may wear makeup or lipgloss after 10 days. Do not smoke or kiss or rub your lips for 10 days.
