What is a SculptLift™?

A SculptLift™ is similar to a facelift, with an added innovation, developed and trademarked by Dr. Rousso. In a SculptLift™, the lower two-thirds of the face is restored with a SMAS (superficial muscular aponeurotic system) technique. This advanced technique involves manipulating the layer of tissue deeper within the skin and tissue to restore youthful structure and definition. The added aspect of the SculptLift™ involves tissue transfer. In the SMAS technique, a small quantity of tissue is removed from in front of the ear. This live, healthy tissue is transferred to add volume to lips, smooth nasolabial folds, or fill marionette lines for a longer-lasting result.

What does a SculptLift™ treat?

A SculptLift™ is an advanced facelift procedure that produces a superior result in facial rejuvenation. It treats the following:

  • Sagging facial skin
  • Jowls
  • Sagging cheeks
  • Deeply-etched laugh lines
  • Thinning lips
  • Marionette lines
  • Sagging skin on upper neck

Candidates for a SculptLift™

Any person who dreams of looking younger is likely a good candidate for a custom SculptLift™, when in good general health and who can safely undergo facial cosmetic surgery. It is the perfect facelift technique for you if you have:

  • Sagging jowls
  • Lines extending from lip corners onto chin
  • Your lips have thinned
  • Your cheek structure has dropped lower on your face
  • You want a natural, refreshed look that lasts and lasts
  • You want to look a decade or more younger

How is a SculptLift™ performed?

A SculptLift™ is a custom facelift surgery, developed by Dr. Rousso. In an SMAS facelift, a small portion of tissue is removed from in front of the ear structure and is typically discarded. Dr. Rousso has developed a process in which this strip of natural tissue is saved and placed to restore volume to lips, laugh lines, or marionette lines, creating natural volume for the long term. A SMAS facelift procedure involves manipulating a layer of tissue beneath the skin for a more natural repositioning of sagging facial skin. After the loosened underlying structure is repaired and restored to a very natural position, excess skin is trimmed away, and naturally draped, creating a singularly beautiful outcome. The custom tissue transfer to fill areas lacking volume takes this procedure to the next level.

  • Anesthesia: A SculptLift™ is typically performed under IV sedation and local anesthesia or general anesthesia.
  • Incision sites: The incisions are placed around the ear structure, from the hairline at the temples, ending behind the ears at the lower area of the scalp with no visible facial scarring.
  • Liposuction: Excess fat under the chin or upper neck is removed with liposuction.
  • Added procedures: For comprehensive facial rejuvenation, the procedure can be combined with a neck lift, brow lift (endoscopic or traditional, based on need), or eyelid lift.

Recovery after a SculptLift™

The recovery time after a SculptLift™ involves little pain and requires about two weeks to heal. In the early stages of recovery, you will experience some swelling and bruising. You will sleep with your head elevated, and your face will be protected with compression bandages. Stitches will be removed in seven to ten days, with others dissolving over time. You must avoid all vigorous motions for two to three weeks. You may require up to four weeks for a full recovery, with results that last for a decade or longer, if you care for your skin and avoid the sun, eat a healthy diet, and care for your health.
